CLOSE THE GAP

CLOSE THE GAP

Today is National Close the Gap Day - 17th MARCH 2022
(The third Thursday of March every year)

The aim of this day is to raise awareness about a very important issue. It aims to bring people together to share information & to take meaningful action in support of achieving HEALTH EQUALITY for First Nations People in Australia.

How you can get involved:

  • Donate to ANTaR (Australians for Native Title and Reconciliation), a national advocacy organisation dedicated specifically to the rights - and overcoming the disadvantage - of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

  • Sign the Close the Gap pledge & ask your friends, family and colleagues to do the same

  • Attend a local activity or event

  • Attend a screening of Take Heart: The Quest to Rid Australasia from Rheumatic Heart Disease (2016)

  • Share your photos and stories, or listen to and share stories of First Nations people on social media #ClosetheGap #ClosetheGapDay

  • Write to your local Member of Parliament or your State Minister for Health and encourage them to take action on Closing the Gap

As a company, we:

  • Donated to ANTaR to support their efforts to Close the Gap

  • Demanded health equality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians by officially pledging to Close the Gap & we encourage all of our friends, family, suppliers & customers to do the same

  • Emailed our local MP, The Hon. Richard Wynne, asking him to do more to Close the Gap

  • Invite all of our customers and local community members to come into our store at any time to meet us, talk to us and share your Closing the Gap stories & efforts

  • Would love to hear from you if you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and part of the moto community, we would love to hear your story.
